Northmoor Community Association was set up by
Northmoor Residents Association in 2000 to take
over the running and management of Northmoor
Community Centre, a new community facility
developed by the Residents Association working
together with the Northmoor Steering Group, a
group of organisation involved in the renewal of
the Northmoor Road area of Longsight.
Northmoor
Community Association is run by a voluntary management committee
including local residents, members of local
community groups, and co-opted partners from
local agencies, ensuring that the voice of the
local community is strongly represented in the
choices and decisions made.
Groups and
services offered at the Community Centre and at
Northmoor Laundrette (also run by Northmoor
Community Association) are developed following
consultation with local people and analysis of
need in the local area.
The I.T. led
United Northmoor I.T. Empowerment project
(u.n.I.T.e) has recently been developed in
response to the demand for Information, Advice
and Guidance incorporating career development
and a FREE C.V. service. This project links into
the governments worklessness agenda.
A new
partnership with MacMillan Cancer Support has
been formed to run a volunteer-led project from
the Community Centre, providing support,
friendship and home visits to those affected by
cancer.
